- "Run! Maia run. Maia run!"
- —Dalanor telling his daughter to run before been executed.
Dalanor was a young human man who was one of the Arnorian Dúnedain that lived in the northern kingdom of Arnor during the Third Age. Becoming a Ranger of the North, he married Astelni, who would give birth to a daughter and named her Maia. When Sauron's power was increasing, Dalanor had lived in an unknown village with his family. That was when orcs, who were sent by their dark master, to eliminate the bloodline of Isildur Elendilion and find the Ring of Barahir that belonged to his descendants. During the attack, the father tried to save his wife, but was too late as she was already slain by the orcs led by Shaknar. He tried to search for Maia and managed to find her when an orc was about to slay her. He managed to kill the orc and fought bravily to protect her. Surrounded and beaten to the ground, he shouted for his daughter to run until he was executed by one of the orc warriors that slew him. His daughter managed to flee for her life with a group of refugees that made their way safely to Taurdal.
