Brent McIntyre

Brent McIntyre.

Brent McIntyre is a New Zealand librarian, stand-in and actor who worked as double and stand-in for The Two Towers and portrayed the Witch-king of Angmar in The Fellowship of the Ring, in his "Black Rider" scenes and his twilight form when he stabbed Frodo.

Behind the scenes[]

  • At 6'10 (2.08 meters), Brent was the tallest actor of the trilogy.
  • Brent was replaced by Shane Rangi, Lawrence Makoare, and Mark Ferguson as the trilogy went on. Despite this, he can still be seen through flashbacks in archive footage in The Two Towers and The Return of the King.
  • Brent was rumored to have also played the Witch-King during the prologue, but was confirmed false as the extra who played the human version was put at the center of all the other Kings of Men because he was the shortest.
