Asphodel Burrows, born Asphodel Brandybuck, was a Hobbit who lived in Buckland as a member of the Brandybuck clan.

History[]

Born in TA 2923, Asphodel lived in Buckland, and was the daughter of Gorbadoc and Mirabella Brandybuck. While traveling to the Shire at a young age, Asphodel met a bounder named Rufus Burrows, and the two began to form a relationship. Spending a few years together, Asphodel and Rufus got married, and the two would have a son named Milo Burrows. In TA 2980, Asphodel was shocked to have heard the news of her sister Primula, who was killed in a boating accident alongside her husband. Asphodel attended their funerals and placed flowers to remember them.

Years later in TA 3001, Asphodel was 78 years old when she and her family had been busy making preparations for the birthday party of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins. Later that night, she and her husband attended the event, and were greeted by Bilbo and enjoyed to dance happily while Gandalf had been setting up the fireworks. She was later present when she and the entire crowd of hobbits cheered for Bilbo to make a speech before he blows out all the candles from the birthday cake. However, the speech ended shortly when Bilbo used his magical ring that he kept for almost 60 years and disappeared in front of crowd that were completely shocked of what they saw.

After Bilbo departed Bag End and left it under the care of Frodo Baggins, who was the heir to the house, Asphodel continued to settle things with her family until the War of the Ring began when the Dark Lord Sauron had emerged and sent servants to retrieve the One Ring (which was revealed to be the item that Bilbo had kept). When the Ringwraiths entered the borders of the Shire, Asphodel's husband had recently been busy policing the borders until he was slain by one of the Nazgûl. Asphodel was horrified and devastated when she heard the news of her husband's death, and attended his funeral later on during the war.

After the War of the Ring had ended, resulting the death of Sauron and the destruction of the One Ring that was casted back into the fires of Mount Doom by Frodo Baggins, Asphodel attended Sam and Rosie's wedding and lived through the early years of the Fourth Age. She passed away in FO 21 at the age of 99.
